Day 1: Introduction and short ride in the valley.

After breakfast we drive from Jakar, Bumthang to Tang Valley, where our ranch is located. The drive will take two hours. We will be greeted by our host and hostess at the home stay and after lunch we meet our horses and the Trail guide. Short introduction on riding lesson inside our arena. We make a short ride within the valley, visit local villagaes and get acquainted with the horse. Overnight in home stay or Orgyen Choling Guest House.

Day 2: Tang Valley – Kunzangdrak village

Begin your day with a short introduction riding lesson inside our arena. After covering a few basics we will begin our ride. Experience the breathtaking view as you ride along the village road up the mountain side and towards the first camping site. This ride might have a few places where the rider needs to dismount and walk your horse, depending on the footing of the trail on the way down the hill. Riders are expected to listen to the trail leader’s instructions carefully for a safe and enjoyable ride. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the lush mountains before reaching the camp site. (Ride Duration Approximate 6 hours). Overnight in tents.

Day 3: Kunzangdrak – Padselling Monastery.

Start your day with some fun exercises atop the horse that are beneficial to both you and your pony as you improve your riding balance and confidence. Begin your long ride through the forests and hillsides as you make your way towards the next camping site. Upon reaching the camping site, you will get the opportunity to explore a Buddhist Monastery, village and Temple atop the Mountainside, perfect for taking pictures. (Ride Duration Approximate 6 hours). Overnight in tents.

Day 4: Padselling – Dorjibi village

Enjoy a relaxing ride through the forests, hillsides and terrain as you make your way down the hill. You will be riding mostly on village roads and trails, making it easy to maneuver your pony. Advanced riders can participate in some trot as guided by the trail leader whereas beginners can practice their riding exercises. (Frogs/Up Downs) (Riding Duration Approximate 5 hours). Overnight in tents or you can choose to stay in the hotel in Jakar, which is nearby.

Day 5: Dorjibi Village – Ngalakhang valley.

Enjoy a nice relaxing ride while exploring the local villages and meeting the friendly people. This is the perfect opportunity to feel like you flashbacked through time as you ride your beautiful horses through the farms and unpaved roads. Watch the farmers plowing the fields or the women in the potato field hard at work as you sit atop your pony. Visit the village temple and some farm house. Advanced riders can participate in some trot as guided by the trail leader and beginner riders can practice their riding exercises.

(Riding Duration Approximate 5 hours). Overnight in tents. Option available to stay in local farm house.

Day 6: Ngalakhang – Tang Valley.

Ride alongside the mountain trails and cross 3000m pass on your horse back while making your way back towards the stables. Advanced riders can enjoy some trotting on their ponies whereas the beginner riders can participate in practicing some of the exercises as given by the trail leader. (Frogs/Up Downs etc.) After returning to the stables, riders will care for their horse before saying their final goodbyes and departing back to the homestay/hotel in Tang valley or drive to Jakar

Bumthang Owl Trek 4 days

Day 1: Ngalakhang to Jakar
After breakfast drive along the bumpy farm road till Ngalakhang for about 1 ½ hrs. Visit the local village. Meet the horses and ride back to Jakar using the horse trail on the other side of the river. Your first day ride in Ngalakhang valley, is mostly following Chamkhar Chu river downstream. You can feel and experience small villages and interesting temple located on hill tops. Advance riders can trot and canter along this trail. Around 4 hrs ride. Overnight in hotel.

Day 2: Begin Trek; Jakar- Menchugang-Dhur-Schonath
Transfer by vehicle till the road head and start the ride at Manchugang. Today we will continue our ride visiting Dur Village, the biggest rural village in Bumthang, at an elevation of 2900 meters above sea level. The village consists of about 75 households with a recorded population of around 800 people. In this single village, there are three types of inhabitant called the Kheps (tax payers, with cattle and farmland), the Brokpas, (nomadic yak herders) and the third group having either. This village also use two different dialects; the usual Bumthang Kha and the Brokke (nomadic dialects). After lunch the trail passes mostly through blue pine forest and gradually ascending to a beautiful camp site at Schonath. From the campsite you can still see Dur village. The trail is fairly easy and you can ride till the camp site. Total 4-5 hrs ride. Overnight in tent camps.

Day 3 Trek (B/L/D)
Trekking through the virgin forest of huge temperate trees like spruce, hemlock, fir, birch and many species of rhododendron makes you breathe the real wilderness of Bhutan. Bamboos are the main undergrowth of this wild forest. During the months of April and May the rhododendrons are in full bloom. In about two hours, you will arrive at the Drangela Pass (3600m). Ascending the Kitiphu ridge brings you to an altitude of 3870m for the night camp. If weather favors you, have a wonderful view of the valley and the panoramic snowcapped Himalayan peaks. The highest mountain of Bhutan Gangkar Punsum (7541m) stands right in front of you when you are on the peak of Kitiphu (4000m). Overnight in tent camp. Around 4 -5 hrs ride.

Day 4 Trek ends – Chumey(B/L/D)]
Climb down to the monasteries of Zambhalha, Chuedak and Tharpaling monastery, which brings us to the historical Buddhist learning center, where renowned masters like Longchen Rabjampa in early 14th CE spent many years in exile from Tibet. Chuedak monastery has 100 Avoloketeshvaras in the form of Chukchizhey (eleven heads). Along this trail you may have to walk about half an hour, as the descent in some places are steep.

From here we descend through broad path, or farm road with good views into Chumey valley, trotting along the way. Total rode will be 4-5 hours. Overnight in Chumey Nature Resort.

Day 1: Jakar – Ngang Lhakhang
Ride Distance: ~14 km | Duration: 3–4 hours Altitude: 2,900m

Begin your trek by saddling up at Jakar and following the Chamkhar Chu river. The ride is gentle and scenic, passing meadows, blue pine forests, and traditional villages. You’ll see ancient temples and quiet countryside life as you make your way toward the “Swan Temple,” Ngang Lhakhang, a charming structure steeped in legend. Overnight: Farmhouse stay near Ngang Lhakhang.

Day 2: Ngang Lhakhang – Phephe La – Tandingang Village
Ride Distance: ~22 km | Duration: 7–8 hours. Altitude: ~3,360m at the pass; overnight at ~3,000m

Today’s ride is a true journey into the highlands. Ascend steadily through juniper forests to reach Phephe La Pass (3,360m), the spiritual high point of the trek. From the pass, enjoy sweeping views before descending into the remote Tang Valley. Instead of stopping at the usual campsite in Takhung, continue riding down to Tandingang Village, where you’ll be welcomed into a local home. Overnight: Village homestay in Tandingang.

Day 3: Explore Ugyen Choling & Tang Valley
After a leisurely morning visit in the village and time to connect with local families, ride along the valley floor and gently ascend to Ugyen Choling Manor, a beautifully restored aristocratic home now housing a museum on Bhutanese rural life. The trails here offer great opportunities for trotting and riding through open meadows.
Spend the rest of the day exploring nearby villages, relaxing, and immersing yourself in the cultural atmosphere.
Overnight: Ugyen Choling Guest House.

Day 4: Tang Valley – Jakar (Drive)
After breakfast, travel by vehicle back to Jakar. En- route, visit spiritual and cultural highlights including: Tang Rimochen Temple, nestled beneath sacred cliffs.  Visit Bebzur Chukpoi Mei, a local house-turned-museum and Pemacholling Nunnery nearby. Stop at Mebartsho (Burning Lake), a sacred pilgrimage site and Continue to explore Jakar town or head onward to destinations like Chumey or Trongsa, depending on your travel plans.

Ride to Tandingang Village via Cattle Farm

Your ride begins with a brief orientation session in our arena, where you’ll get to know your horse and cover the basics of horseback riding. Then, we’ll head out on a relaxing ride through farmlands and towards the peaceful Tandingang village. The trail offers sweeping views and ideal photo spots as we pass through the local cattle farm and charming countryside. This gentle route is perfect for first-time riders and includes simple trails suited for an easy, enjoyable experience. After returning to the stables, enjoy a delicious lunch and tea at the arena and surrounding mountains.

Ride to Phephe La Pass via Tandingang Village and Ancient Stupa

Embark on an adventurous ride through remote mountain trails and wilderness landscapes, ideal for experienced riders. This route takes you through Tandingang village and onward to Phephe La Pass, where you’ll stop at an ancient stupa—a serene and spiritual site known for its intricate, timeworn artwork. Enjoy a peaceful picnic lunch here, surrounded by nature and timeless craftsmanship. On the return journey, open meadows and long trails offer opportunities for trotting and more dynamic riding.

Bumthang Bushman Trail Horseback Ride

Saddle up for a gentle yet scenic horseback adventure along the Bumthang Bushman Trail—originally a biking and hiking route, now reimagined for a unique riding experience. This trail offers serene pine forests, panoramic views of Chamkhar Valley, and cultural landmarks along the way, with an option for either a traditional or picnic lunch.

Ride through tranquil woodland paths as you gradually ascend to a hilltop meadow, perfect for a short break while enjoying sweeping views of the valley below. Continue along the forested trail until you reach Bebzur, where the riding portion ends.

Dismount here and begin a cultural exploration with a visit to Bebzur Chukpoi Mei, a traditional Bumthap house converted into a local museum. Just a short distance away is the Pemacholling Nunnery, perched quietly on the hillside.

For those wishing to ride a bit longer, continue on horseback through nearby villages for a couple of hours, then drive the rest of the way to Ogyen Choling in Tang Valley, or return to Jakar for a more relaxed finish to the day.

Bhutan Horse Riding & Cultural Tour

Day 1: Arrive in Paro – Thimphu (L/D)
Upon arrival, meet and drive to capital Thimphu. Familiarization tour as per available time.
Overnight in Jumolhari or Khang Residency

Day 2: In Thimphu (B/L/D)
Full day in Thimphu visiting Memorial Chorten, Changangkha Lhakhang, Takin preserve, Painting School, Traditional Hospital, National Library, Folk Museum, Paper Factory, Textile Museum and others as per your interest and available time.
Overnight in Jumolhari or Khang Residency

Day 3: Drive to Punakha(B/L/D)
After breakfast drive east across Dochula pass to Punakha and Wangdue valley. En-route stop atop Dochula pass for mountain view. On a clear day one can see the magnificent views of Eastern Himalaya. Before Punakha stop at Mitsina and take a short and pleasant walk to visit Chimi Lhakhang temple. After lunch, drive north of the valley and hike to Khamsum Yuelley Chorten, 45 Minutes each way. Towards the evening visit Punakha Dzong located at the confluence of Phochu and Mochu river.

Day 4: Drive to Trongsa (B/L/D)
After breakfast drive east across Pelela pass to Trongsa. Upon arrival in Trongsa visit imposing Trongsa Dzong and Ta Dzong Tower Museum. Stroll around the town and return to the hotel.

Day 5: Drive to Jakar, Bumthang (B/L/D)
After breakfast drive to Bumthang 3hrs. En-route stop at Chummey valley and visit Yathra weavers in Zungney Weaving Centre. After Lunch in Bumthang, visit Wangdicholing Palace, Jakar dzong. In the evening drive to Kharchu Gonpa to witness the theological debate taking place.
Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

Day 6: Drive to Tang valley and stay one night (B/L/D)
Then drive about 2 ½ hrs to Tang Valley, where our Ranch is located.
Upon reaching the valley floor, check into Ugen Chholing Manor Guest House (a simple and clean accommodation which is now being upgraded). Tour Ugenchholing Manor and after lunch at the Guest house, ride to the nearby village to visit the local village, meet local etc. These ride will provide necessary familiarization and get acquainted with the horse etc. Guests can visit local village homes, interact with family etc. Overnight in Ugencholing Guest House.

Day 7: Tang Valley – Kunzangdrak village(B/L/D)
Begin ride after breakfast. The ride takes around 5-6hrs, first passing through villages and then through the fields and forests. Lunch will be along the way. Camp near the Kunzang dra village.
There is a temple and hermitage on the cliff (Kunzangdra Monastery). It was founded by Pemalingpa in 1488 and is one of his residences with nice shrine.
Overnight in Camp.

Day 8: Kunzangdrak – Padselling Monastery. (B/L/D)

Begin your long ride through the forests and hillsides as you make your way towards the next camping site. Overnight in Camp.

Day 9: Padselling – Dorjibi village – Jakar (B/L/D)

Advanced riders can participate in some trot as guided by the trail leader whereas beginners can practice their riding exercises. (Frogs/Up Downs) (Riding Duration Approximate 4- 5 hours). After visiting Dorjibi village, the guest can stay in the camp or take a short drive to the hotel in Jakar (10 minutes). Explore and visit Jakar’s town and local attractions.

Day 10 : In Jakar (B/L/D)
Full day in Bumthang visiting Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamshing Gonpa, Chakhar Lhakhang etc.
Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

Day 11: Fly to Paro (B/L/D) (Note flight operates only on certain days of the week)
After breakfast, transfer to Domestic airport in time for your flight to Paro.
This afternoon visit Rinpung Dzong and National Museum. Free evening to stroll around Paro town.
Overnight in Tashi Namgay or similar.

Day 12: In Paro (B/L/D)
After breakfast, drive short distance to Dzongdrakha and visit its cave temples and houses by short walk. Visit local village.
Later in the afternoon visit Kichu Lhakhang and Dungse Lhakhang temples. . and drive short to visit Beautiful 7th Century Kichu Lhakhang, visit local homes and others as per your interest.Free evening to rest or stroll on your own.
Overnight in Tashi Namgay or similar.

Day 13: Paro (Hike to Taktsang) (B/L/D)
Transfer to the trail head for hike to famous Taktshang or Tiger’s Nest Monastery, a quintessential Bhutan travel experience .You can also hire a local pony for the uphill ride.
Upon return drive north of the valley to visit ruined Drugyel Dzong once an important fortress which guarded the valley from Tibetan invader. Tashi Namgay or Tenzinling.

Day 14: Departure (B)
After breakfast, transfer to airport in time for your departure flight.
